204. Weapons Of The Indian Arsenal That Can Ensure Victory In War

The true warriors of the Indian armed forces were, are and will always be the human soldiers. Fighting valiantly right at the doorsteps of the enemies these soldiers adopt any environment. Every victory India has tasted so far has a fair share of dedication by these brave souls. Assisting them in their actions are the gifts of technology which prove to be deadly once in their hands. Here is a list of such weapons which can rain havoc on enemy once in the hands of the brave Indian soldiers.

2. PAD/AAD Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) System – ‘The mighty umbrella

The BMD system designed by India is a twin stage system consisting of Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) and Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missiles. The PAD system is used as the high altitude interceptor with capabilities to intercept targets with a service ceiling of over 80 kilometres. The PAD has a disputed range of over 5000 kilometre, thus countering most of the Pakistan’s fielded missiles well before they reach Indian Territory.

3. BrahMos – ‘Faster than pizza home delivery

BrahMos is a portmanteau of Indian and Russian rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva respectively. Travelling at varying speeds of 2.8 to 3.0 Mach, BrahMos is the only true supersonic missile to be in service. The world’s fastest cruise missile in operation, Brahmos travels at speeds of Mach 2.8 to 3.0. India is the only country with supersonic cruise missiles in their army, navy and air force. The missile guarantees pin-point accuracy with hypersonic speed throughout the flight.

4. PINAKA (MBRLS) – ‘The dread for enemy

The Pinaka MBRLS (Multiple Barrel Rocket Launch System) is produced by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Army. Pinaka can fire up to 12 missiles/rockets in 44 seconds with a reload time as short as 4 minutes.

5. NAG Missile and NAMICA (NAG Missile Carrier) – ‘The Indian Serpent

NAG is a ‘fire-and-forget’ anti-tank missile developed by the DRDO. It is often reckoned as world’s only anti-tank missile which has a complete fibre glass structure. NAG can engage targets at ranges 4-5 km at a flight speed of 230 m/s using infrared imaging system. NAMICA is the NAG missile carrier which is capable of carrying 12 missiles with 8 of them in ready-to-fire mode. NAMICA’s amphibious capabilities allow it to conquer almost any water body.

6. Dhanush (Advance) 155 mm Artillery Gun – ‘The shell it fires is with love from India to the enemy

This 155 mm and 45 calibre gun has a maximum effective range of 38 km in plains while the original Bofors gun could not fire effectively beyond 27 km. It has an 8 metre long barrel. India is fourth after USA, Israel and Russia to have a barrel as long as 8 metres.

7. T-90 Bhishma – ‘The Beast on Wheels

Bhishma is manned by a crew of three and is protected against anti-tank missiles and projectiles by hardened steel and composite armour. T-90 has the 125 mm 2A46 tank gun as its main stand-in weapon. This gun can fire 43 Armour Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS), High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) and High Explosive Fragmentation (HEF) rounds in rapid succession. T-90 is a shoot in the arm for our army and is capable of reducing enemy armoured positions to rubbles in matter of seconds.

8. PHALCON AWACS – ‘The Guardian of The Skies

It is capable of handling airborne early warning, tactical surveillance of airborne and surface targets and intelligence gathering missions. The aircraft is capable of obtaining a 360° picture of the battlefield and can maintain the sanity of the skies by pin pointing fighters to any airborne threats. The aircraft is capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously. The long range radar enables the aircraft to track enemy activity well inside their territory.

9. Sukhoi SU-30 MKI – ‘The King of the Skies

The powerful Bars radar is the eye in the sky for Sukhoi. The radar is capable of detecting targets as far as 400 km and can engage 4 targets simultaneously. The aircraft can operate effortlessly in any weather condition, thanks to the latest avionics kit. Having been equipped with 12 external hard points, the aircraft can carry an array of weapons. The aircraft can be optimised for carrying out CAP missions, Air-2- Air combats and precision guided ground bombing.

10. P8I Neptune – ‘The stalker of the deep waters

The aircraft operating under the Indian Navy is fitted with a Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) which can detect submarines lurking hundreds of feet under water. P8I can carry sonobuoys, torpedoes, depth charges and free fall bombs for neutralizing lurking threats. The aircraft also carries Harpoon anti-shipping missiles for neutralizing any surface threats.

11. INS Visakhapatnam (Destroyer) – ‘The coolest war winners

On April 20, the Indian Navy launched its latest and by far the most powerful and advanced stealth destroyer ship called the INS Visakhapatnam which is the most advanced Indian destroyer warship to sail the battle waters. It has eight supersonic BrahMos missiles. It is also the only Indian warship with ‘Total Atmosphere Control System’ which enables the crew on-board to function without any life support system in regions of nuclear, chemical or biological fall out.

12. INS Chakra – ‘The Indian Metallic Tiger Shark

Being a nuclear powered submarine, Chakra virtually has an unlimited range. The Akula class submarines are believed to be one of the most silent submarines and can lurk in waters undetected for months at a time. Akula can fire the 533mm torpedo and can also launch the Club-S anti-shipping cruise missiles. The submarine can lurk undetected in enemy territorial waters for months together and launch surprise attacks, annihilating prefixed high value targets. Chakra can also be used for covert operations and information gathering missions by tailing enemy vessels.

13. INS Vikramaditya – ‘The movable airport in middle of the sea

With these weapons it is like ‘Neighbours envy, owner’s pride.’ These weapons prove that today India can take on any enemy with strong resistance.
